What notes should you hear with capo 11?
With a capo at fret 11, a guitar in standard tuning sounds E♭, A♭, D♭, G♭, B♭, E♭ from the thickest string to the thinnest. Each string rises by 11 semitones. The interval pattern between strings stays the same. The table below shows the actual sounding octaves and frequencies.
How to check your capo at fret 11
Remove the capo and tune the open strings to E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4. Fit the capo just behind fret 11, then enable “Check with capo on”. Listen to the reference tones or enable the microphone. Pluck each string without pressing another fret. Do not tune the open strings up to the capo targets.
What happens to familiar chord shapes?
With capo 11, an E major shape sounds D♯ major, an A major shape sounds G♯ major, and a G major shape sounds F♯ major. At this higher fret, check that your capo fits the neck comfortably and leaves enough room for the part you want to play.
